Lynne, this is stunning—so vivid and full of reverence for the mechanic’s craft. I love how you blend the mechanical with the emotional, especially the line about ‘brains in his fingers’ and the tenderness in ‘labour all their life to love a woman.’ You’ve brought the character and the work to life with grace and grit.
